In 1973 American LaFrance introduced the Century Series fire apparatus. This was American LaFrance's first all new design since the 900 series in 1960. The new design featured an 84 inch wide cab with much more glass. The rear section was wider with curved rear window glass. Volumn production began in early 1975. The first Century delivered was to Ellington, CT is a 1000 gpm pumper with a 1000 gallon water tank. The truck is powered by a Detroit 8V71 with an Allison automic transmission.  The truck was donated to the Connecticut Fire Museum in September 2012 by the Town of Ellington after it was retired. The apparatus carries American LaFrance serial # C-1.

This apparatus is equipped with the following: 4kw generator with portable lighting equipment -1000' 4" supply hose - 500' 2 1/2 "  hose - 3 preconnected attack 1 3/4" lines - prepiped deck gun - back pack pumps - hand tools, axes, pike poles, crowbars, rope - 24' exension ladder & 14' roof ladder.
