The Connecticut Trolley Museum (CTM) is thrilled to present a full calendar of family-friendly summer activities beginning July 1st and running through September 1st, 2025. From interactive exhibits to themed events, CTM offers a summer experience filled with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories for visitors of all ages.
Summertime is the best time to visit CTM - come once or all summer long! Enjoy trolley rides operated by costumed motormen aboard restored trolley cars from the early 1900s. Learn about the history of the collection and how the Museum began. In the Visitor Center explore a variety of hands-on stations including the Trolley Experience, where guests can climb aboard selected trolleys and take the controls using their imagination. At the Crafting Station, children can create their own Motorman hat and trolley fare ticket to take home. Participate in the Scavenger Hunt/I-Spy Challenge for a chance to win a trolley fare token, and don't miss the Dress-Up Station - perfect for photos! Admission also includes access to the Fire Truck Museum, home to more than 15 historic fire trucks and firefighting equipment dating back to 1923.
The LEGO® Station Exhibit continues to be a visitor favorite at CTM, offering a hands-on experience that encourages creativity and imagination for all ages. Guests are invited to build and display their own creations throughout the summer as part of this interactive exhibit, which is included with general admission. New this year, CTM will host a LEGO Building Theme Contest, where participants can enter their creations based on rotating themes for a chance to win fun prizes. Whether you're a casual builder or a LEGO enthusiast, the LEGO Station is a great place to let your imagination roll!
For a more in-depth LEGO experience, CTM will host LEGO Workshops on Friday, July 11 and Friday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children ages 8-12 will build a trolley using a custom LEGO kit, take a trolley ride, enjoy a snack, and receive a guided museum tour. The workshop fee is $25 per person ($20 for Museum Members) and includes admission. Space is limited and registration is required at www.ct-trolley.org.
Also returning this season is the beloved Storytime Trolley, where families gather inside a historic trolley to hear stories featuring trains and trolleys, followed by a scenic trolley ride. Storytime is offered every Tuesday and Wednesday at 11 a.m., starting the week of June 30th and is included with paid general admission.
Fun Fridays are new this year! Every Friday will feature special programs and surprise visits from other attractions - ranging from hands-on activities to live appearances. Each Fun Friday promises a unique experience, and event details will be announced as they are confirmed. Follow CTM on social media or visit our website regularly to stay in the loop. Fun Fridays are included in regular admission. Additionally, the Fire Museum invites visitors to climb aboard and sit on a real fire truck-don't miss this hands-on experience!
